Z-Star Trinity stormed the RSL stage like a cosmic freight train, rattling the old floorboards and blowing every mind in the 100-strong crowd. I was there, front and centre, and let me tell you – it was next level. The power trio ignited the room with an explosive mix of psychedelic blues and R&B-infused heavy rock, with frontwoman Zee Gachette’s soul-baring vocals soaring over the thunderous grooves of drummer Beck Flatt and the gritty basslines from fast-fingers Vini Melo. With ferocity and a command that had the audience like putty in her hands, Zee’s stage presence was electrifying. Her dynamic vocal melodies and catchy songs wrapped around rifftastic guitars like it was born in her hands. The powerhouse rhythm section laid down grooves so heavy you could feel them in your bones. I wasn’t the only one dragged from my seat—within minutes, the dance floor was pumping! Z-Star Trinity didn’t just play a gig; they conjured a storm. The music was a wild ride: powerful, spiritual, and mesmerising, with two sets that had the whole place hypnotised and wanting more. I walked out dazed, buzzing, and grateful I didn’t miss what might have been Mullum’s gig of the year.
